Kraft Mechanical played a key role in the transformation of the former Sunrise Park Middle School into a modern, 120,000 square-foot campus serving the White Bear Lake Area Schools District Service Center, Senior Center, Early Childhood Center, and Transition Education Center. Completed in three phases, the renovation allowed district faculty and staff to continue operations while transitioning into the newly renovated facility. The project included significant HVAC and plumbing upgrades designed to improve efficiency, comfort, and long-term performance throughout the campus.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
- Installed a new 355-ton chiller and converted two 10,500 MBH steam boilers to an energy-efficient hydronic heating system.
- Installed more than 12,500 feet (2.35 miles) of hydronic piping through the building’s utility tunnel system.
- Supported new HVAC infrastructure including 16 rooftop units, 18 VUVs, VAV reheat coils, cabinet unit heaters, unit heaters, and fin tube radiation.
- Replaced domestic hot and cold water systems and installed a new sanitary piping network.
- Installed plumbing systems supporting more than 150 fixtures throughout classrooms, offices, gymnasium spaces, restrooms, and kitchen facilities.
- Successfully completed construction in three phases while maintaining ongoing facility operations.
- Helped create a modern, efficient environment that will support educational and community programs for years to come.
