Preparing for Heating Season: Sam Christenson Joins MACFM Boiler Basics Panel

Heating season is right around the corner, and reliable boiler performance starts with proper preparation, maintenance, and an understanding of how building systems should operate.

Kraft Mechanical Service Manager Sam Christenson recently participated in MACFM’s Church Boiler Basics panel at Calvary Church in Golden Valley, joining other industry professionals to share practical guidance with church facility managers as they prepare their buildings for the colder months ahead.

The discussion covered a wide range of boiler and heating system topics, including startup and seasonal preparation, proper water treatment, condensing and non-condensing boilers, fire-tube and water-tube systems, steam traps, equipment sizing, energy efficiency, rebates, sustainability, and determining when aging equipment should be repaired or replaced.

The panel also addressed common startup issues and maintenance strategies, along with ways facility managers can better understand their systems and make informed decisions when repairs or replacement are recommended.

For facility managers, preventive maintenance and early system evaluation can help identify potential concerns before they become larger problems. Regular inspections and maintenance can also support system efficiency, reduce unexpected downtime, extend equipment life, and help facilities plan more effectively for future repairs and capital expenses.

Kraft Mechanical appreciates the opportunity to participate in industry conversations like this and share practical knowledge with the facility professionals responsible for keeping buildings safe, comfortable, and operational throughout Minnesota’s heating season.

Thank you to MACFM for bringing facility managers and industry experts together for an informative discussion.
